Palazzo Bufalini is a four-storey noble palace built in the sixteenth century and placed in its current features during the eighteenth century, located in the historic center of Spoleto in Umbria, the perfect location for an unforgettable stay in central Italy. It is undoubtedly the most important building in Piazza del Duomo.
The building is on 4 floors connected by an internal staircase. From the square, through the large arched doorway, you enter the entrance, which leads to the apartments and, on the left, to the suggestive path of the elevator shaft.
Its eighteenth-century facade is adorned with projecting string-courses and stucco cornices that decorate the windows, from which one can enjoy a magnificent view of the square below and the Spoleto valley, and of an imposing architrave portal in carved local stone. It has a charming outdoor area, characterized by a well-kept terraced roof garden, with pergola, roses and lawn, which follows the slope of the overlying hill dominated by the imposing Albornoz fortress.
The interiors, recently renovated and restored, are distinguished by their individual features and are well suited to the specific needs of the guests, both in size and taste: in fact, despite having the constant of a beautiful terracotta floor, they differ in structural characteristics and furnishings.
Over the years the Palazzo has also been used as a location for the Don Matteo television series (it is the Carabinieri barracks).
Palazzo Bufalini is scenically located at the foot of the long staircase that from the Roman forum leads to the religious heart of the city: in fact it delimits and orders, together with the Cathedral and the Theater, the south-east side of one of the most beautiful squares in Italy, Piazza del Duomo, made famous throughout the world by the Festival of the two worlds.
